The Story
When President Nixon discovers that the population is getting too smart to re-elect him again, he gets Dr. Wernstrom to create a machine that will make everyone stupider until Election Day. However, the Dumbsday device affects everyone but Fry, making him “the smartest man in the world.”

- Nixon's head first became Earth president in "A Head in the Polls" in the year 3000 and has continued to use that loophole to be re-elected every four years, most recently in "Decision 3012".
- Everyone on Earth, excluding Fry, also suffered from reduced intelligence in "The Day the Earth Stood Stupid".
